Da Vinci's Dental History

Delfin Barquero, Da Vinci's Dental director, is the result of a long and unparalleled tradition in dentistry that has been passed down over 60 year.

Delfin Barquero Sancho, our director grandfather was a famous dentist in the 50’s decades and the founder of the Da Vinci's Dental philosophy.

This was the first Da Vinci's Lab equipment, where the first Da Vinci's Dental smile was created.

Nowadays, Da Vinci's high tech facilities combines the dental technology with the artistic hand of highly respected technicians to make the patient feel welcome and safe.

Thus, Da Vinci's Dental illustrates a hope. The hope of the “modern-yet-traditional” company – an organization capable of combining strategy and values, innovation and tradition, individual talent and teamwork, knowledge and art. It is our desire that this hope will be consolidated for future generations.

Now, the Da Vinci's Dental family grows with our educational branch, Da Vinci's Dental Academy, because is our responsibility to share what we do with our colleagues in the region.

We are now accredited by the DSD concept born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and now spreaded worldwide.

ABOUT DR. DELFIN BARQUERO

After graduating from Universidad de Costa Rica with his dental degree, Dr. Barquero earned prosthodontist certification. He has also completed implant training and coursework in functional occlusion and total prostheses. As the director at Davinci's Designers Dental Group, Dr. Barquero prioritizes continuing education and is adamant that every patient be treated as a unique and precious individual.

Aesthetic Dentistry

This is one of the widest dental specialties, as it involves various areas of professionals, in the areas of restorative dentistry, orthognathic surgery, orthodontics, prosthetics, periodontics, and dental implants. It involves a complete analysis of the face and smile, for an integrated planning, aimed at restoring the Aesthetic and functional balance of the face.

There are some basic, universally recognized principles that govern our ideas of what is considered attractive. It is natural to want a smile that creates a good impression. Our task at Da Vincis Dental is to seek to balance the patient’s Aesthetic needs in relation to the functional requirements, while at the same time, maintaining the individual characteristics of each patient.

Restorative dentistry

Restorative dentistry plays a key role in restoring functional and Aesthetic harmony.

It is the area responsible for the initial evaluation of the patient, coordinating the stages of treatment and integrating the various areas of specialization in the creation of this new harmony.

Through the use of various technological, laboratory and clinical resources, communication is established with the patient, presenting diagnoses with clarity and precision, clearing up any doubts, simulating therapeutic possibilities and coordinating all interdisciplinary communication.

The numerous advances in modern restorative dentistry, from conservative and minimally invasive procedures to more sophisticated ceramic rehabilitations, caps or implants, can bring solutions for practically any clinical need in any situation.

Implant Destistry

New oral restoration therapies in the area of dental implants are now a reality.

Today, implant dentistry offers almost unlimited possibilities. Even in cases where the patient does not have favorable bone conditions, this new reality in dentistry offers various alternatives for partial or total reconstruction of the dental arches, with comfort and speed. Among other techniques, the most revolutionary one is over-implant restorations without bone graft, even in cases of advanced bone loss. Reducing the number of implants and/or zygomatic implants, the new technique is just like getting a third set of teeth.

Endodontics

Through the growing knowledge of processes of disease associated with endodontic problems (root canal treatments), and improvements in materials and techniques, Endodontics is capable of saving teeth that were previously deemed “irremediable”. Furthermore, advances in restorations of teeth treated endodontically INCREASES the predictability and maintenance of severely damaged teeth, greatly enhancing the preservative therapeutic possibilities.

1. Bridges

We will prescribe a bridge when one or more teeth are missing and there are healthy teeth on both sides of the open space. Bridges can be made from three types of material, solid gold for reliable long wear, porcelain fused to a gold base for strength and beauty, and high-strength metal-free porcelain for optimum cosmetic results. With proper care, your new bridge will increase your overall health and instill confidence for years to come.

2. Crowns

Crowns are prescribed when a tooth or teeth are too badly decayed, broken or cracked to be easily restored with a filling. Crowns are normally needed for teeth that have had root canals. Crowns are also placed on dental implants to replace missing teeth. Crowns can be made entirely of gold or porcelain fused to a gold substrate for strength and beauty. However, with new technology, crowns can be made entirely from high-strength ceramic and porcelain for beautiful cosmetic results.

3. Digital X-rays

We use state of the art digital X-rays and digital cameras to help with an accurate diagnosis of any concerns. Digital X-rays use less radiation to get a diagnostic picture of your teeth and they help the environment by eliminating the use of chemicals to process the film.

4. Fillings

For hundreds of years, dental fillings have been used to restore teeth. Dental fillings are placed in teeth where a dentist has had to remove tooth structure due to decay or fracture. In recent years filling materials have been substantially improved by many technological advancements. Although silver amalgam was the dominant choice years ago, today we have several other preferred options for tooth restoration including tooth colored composite filling materials and cementable resins and porcelains.

5. Implants

When it comes to replacing one or more teeth in your mouth, a dental implant is often the treatment of choice and is also one of the most conservative treatments for tooth replacement. Implants are biocompatible posts that replace the roots of your missing teeth. They are physically and biologically designed to attach to your jaw bone and become the foundation for a natural looking restoration.

Your new tooth or teeth will have excellent stability and strength, and will look and feel like your natural teeth.

6. Inlays

Dental inlays and onlays are some of the strongest and most lifelike dental restorations available. After your mouth has been Anesthetsized we prepare the tooth in much the same way we would for a standard filling. When the tooth has been prepared to our satisfaction, an impression is made and sent to a dental lab. You will usually be required to wear a temporary filling until the restoration is fabricated. With proper care, your inlay or onlay will increase your overall health and instill confidence for years to come.

7. Veneers

Unlike a crown, which covers the entire tooth, a veneer is a thin shell that is placed over the front or visible parts of the tooth. There are two types of veneers, ceramic veneers that are produced by a dental laboratory and resin-based composite veneers. With proper care, your new veneers will greatly improve your appearance and increase your confidence for years to come.

Dr. Delfin Barquero is proud to stand behind his quality services. This warranty applies when the product is used under normal conditions for which the product is designed. Our products are guaranteed to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for one year. It includes: porcelain crown over implant, full cast zirconium crown, porcelain inlay or onlay, porcelain veneer, and also for dentures. All our dental implants are fabricated by the best implant companies in the world. They give a life time warranty on all of their products. This warranty does not cover accidental damage, unreasonable use, improper damage, or other consequential damage to the product or its contents nor does it covers repairs attempted by unauthorized people. Should you need to apply for a warranty please contact our office to obtain an authorization. All claims are effective in San Jose, Costa Rica at our office.

Our quality standard is the same as in any place in the world, we use state of the art materials, but our operative cost is low compared to the states.
